Gearing up for Lakefest 2025 with some petsitting, adventure drinking, and a trip to the Big Apple!
Our good friend Christine threw us a pre-wedding “Adventure Drinking” party with our Raleigh friends. Each destination was determined by rolling a die that had a variety of specific bars and types of location (e.g., rooftop bar or bar w/games). It was well organized and, from what I can remember, we had a blast!
We flew up to New York to see my sister Carly and her family. We all rode the train into the city together so Aunt Stacey and UJ (Uncle Jeremy) could spend time on the High Line with our nephews. We explored the city and saw more family members before heading up to White Plains for Stacey’s official conversion. Stacey completed well over a year of formal Jewish education before the Beit Din and mikvah, which earned her official Jewish status.
We took the Amtrak all the way from NYC to downtown Raleigh, just in time for Run Club on Tuesday – a weekly get together of Stacey’s friends involving running and beer (JD just does the beer part). The train was a lot longer than flying, but way more comfortable. Totally worth it, in my opinion.
Frank and I finally got to see the Nashville Sounds play (it was rained out at my bachelor party) against Durham – go Bulls! Other than that, it was mostly prep for the wedding (Lakefest 2025)… but I’ll tell you more about that in the next post.
Way better than fetch, Stacey swings the Birdy for her new favorite petsit pup (he was a real Lady’s Dog, so Stacey was the favorite)
Every since Stevie taught Cooper to ‘bow’ in college, JD automatically says, “Gooood Bow” every time a dog stretches. This smart dog figured it out quickly and frequently offered me a respectful bow.
A food break in our pre-wedding bar crawl at Stacey’s favorite Beer establishment: Flying Saucer
What would a bar crawl be without spinning the wheel at the Ugly Monkey? Duffy even has the “Big Baller” trophy to prove it!
JD taught his car to Wink! Finally, I can put smiles on the faces of countless Miata owners, children, and unsuspecting men crossing the street.
Stacey & Jeremy board the train to NYC with the 4 Bransky boys and Carly
Hanging w/ Carly’s four boys, we saw this NYC walkway thing. Looked cool, so we took a picture. Of course, you gotta pay if you wanna go to the top!
All sorts of fun art and play things on the Highline for everyone to enjoy. Here a park ranger (?) is showing the boys how to play on a giant bench see-saw.
Another bender in NYC w the standard Time Square pic to prove we were there. What’s the fun of the big apple if you don’t party until 4am?!
One of us! One of us! Gooble Gobbble! Gooble Gobble! The world Jewish population grew by 1 – welcome The Tribe, Stacey!
Every Tuesday, Stacey’s friends get together in Raleigh to run and drink beer. JD just joins for the beer, but we still call it “Run Club”.
Durham Bulls games are always fun — but did you know you can just go to the bar next door and watch for free? Best seats (and cheapest beer) in the house!
