Westward on I-40

It’s that time of year again to pack up Beefy and journey to the western half of the country! This time we took I-40 from Raleigh to just New Mexico to drop off the camper before heading up to Colorado for Thanksgiving. This trip starts a new color (orange) on the map! Our trip stops:

  • Asheville, NC: hung out with my dad and went to Georgie’s Bunker, a new indoor golf spot. Caught up with Mark & Heejung at dinner and saw their new place.
  • Nashville, TN: snuck in a couple quick Offline stops and met up with Eric & Courtney to see a show at the Grand Ole Opry!
  • Memphis, TN: parked at the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid, saw the Peabody Ducks, and went to Flying Saucer for my free birthday beer. Toured the Graceland mansion and 9+ Elvis museums and his personal airplanes!
  • Hot Springs, AR: spent a few nights at a Harvest Host RV park. Went to the Superior Bathhouse brewery (only brewery in a National Park and that uses thermal spring water), did a traditional bathhouse experience at Buckstaff Bathhouse, toured the museum, did some hiking, and walked around a quartz mine dig site nearby.
  • Ft. Smith, AR: fun, local Harvest Host stop with mini golf, pool, arcade and bar/restaurant.
  • Oklahoma City, OK: stayed at the Angry Scottsman brewery.
  • Amarillo, TX: went to the Big Texan for dinner; check out the live stream of the 72-ounce steak challenge.
  • Las Vegas, NM: dropped off the camper and spent the night in a different Las Vegas. Visited a local dispensary with incredible deals and went to a local spot for dinner (Hillcrest Restaurant).
  • Denver, CO: headed up for a few nights petsitting and visiting Jeremy’s family for Thanksgiving. Went to the Wild Animal Sanctuary and Blossom of Lights at the Botanic Gardens. We met up with Ronnie for a fun tour of Offline restaurants around the city.
  • Golden & Black Hawk, CO: made a couple of stops along the way to Summit county to check out the casinos! Learned Ronnie is quite the shark at roulette!
