Colorado

We spent about two weeks in the mountains of Colorado between Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts. We more or less went straight up to about 7,500 feet above sea level, and we both felt the effects of the elevation and humidity change for the first few days – dull headaches and drinking a ton of water but never feeling hydrated. Luckily we had a lot of fun distractions!

We skied three resorts while in Colorado. First we stopped at Keystone on our way up to the Vail area, where we spent the last couple of days of 2023 with Jeremy’s family hanging out and skiing. Skiing Vail on New Year’s day has become something of a tradition for us – I think we’ve been there about five of the seven years we’ve been together. Vail is an amazing mountain (some may even say legendary). The unfortunate side is there’s really no way around paying $40/day to park. Of the 40+ ski resorts we’ve been to, it is the only one that offers virtually no free parking. We estimate their making at least $100K/day on parking alone.

After the New Year celebrations we shifted back to a fairly normal routine of working and skiing some of the afternoons at Beaver Creek. We miss the camper, but it makes us really appreciate the simplicity of just have electricity, water, and Internet. While in Colorado we had a chance to catch up with several of our friends that live in the area, and even a few from North Carolina thanks to Jeremy sharing his location 🙂

Next on our journey is Park City, UT for about two months!

Happy New Year!
