America’s oldest brewery
Last night was our last night in the camper for now. I had made some improvements on our electrical system and our battery has been performing well beyond our expectations. Honestly, the results seem too good to be true, but I’ll take the win until reality tells me otherwise.
Today we decided to just send it all the way up to NY, where we’ll drop off the camper. It was a long haul, but we took a different route, avoiding the cities, and learned that these Yankee states can be beautiful too. We noticed a sign for Yuengling on the side of the highway, so we pulled off at the last minute and drove through the foothills of PA for ~20 miles to check it out.
Was it America’s oldest brewery? Yea. Was the tour free? Yea. Did we get free beer? Yea. Was it the best brewery tour we’ve ever been on? Probably. Yuengling still operates in the original building from almost 200 years ago and they haven’t remodeled it any more than they’ve needed to. Underneath the building they dug out a huge cave to store beer in back in the day — apparently it’s always 56 degrees in a beer cave. The building itself was super old and very authentic. They showed us all around and even let us walk right out on the production floor. We could have grabbed a bear right off the line. Was awesome and would recommend.
We kept trucking after that pitstop and made it all the way to where we dropped off the camper in NY. That was fast! I kinda miss the camper already… But we’ll be back to her soon enough. We’re now on the way to our home for the next few nights (got the snack box, don’t worry). We’ll be slopeside for opening day. Ski season starts tomorrow! Whoop Whoop!
